In an effort to increase access to health care for the nation’s underserved populations and support the incredible efforts of volunteer physicians, the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation has awarded 15 physician-led free clinics across the country with grants through Healthy Communities/Healthy America.

Four of these free clinics belong to the Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Alliance.  Volunteers in Medicine–San Diego located in El Cajon, California, received a grant to improve nutrition education and awareness.  And grants to improve diabetes education and self-management were awarded to:  Community Health Clinic of Butler County in Butler, Pennsylvania; Taylors Free Medical Clinic in Taylors, South Carolina; and the Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
