AARP Recruitment Project

The Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) national office is partnering with AARP to recruit AARP members to volunteer in its network of free clinics. Vermont's VIM clinic in Bennington was the initial pilot site, followed by clinics in Wisconsin and New Jersey. Interested clinic directors are given the opportunity to customize the volunteer needs for their clinic. AARP taps its member database, and emails members who live in proximity to a clinic about the volunteer opportunities available.

In addition to recruiting volunteers for specific positions, this program helps raise awareness about Volunteers in Medicine at the local and national level. Assuming continued success with these initial sites, the plan is to gradually make the program available to all VIM clinics. Clinic directors will be contacted as the program becomes available in their state.
